Friends of the Mission is a Non-Profit Organization that provides affordable housing for individuals, families and youth who are in need, but especially the homeless population in Yolo County.

Ending Homelessness Through FRIENDS OF THE MISSION


Over the years, Friends of the Mission has been at the forefront of developing and managing housing projects that provide a lifeline to those in need. Some of our key developments include:

Walter’s House (Woodland):

A major $1.8 million project with a $400,000 remodel in 2010, offering essential support to those in recovery.

Emergency Shelter (Woodland):

A $1.5 million investment providing critical shelter to the homeless population.

East Oak (Woodland):

The development of four 4-plexes valued at $980,000, creating supportive housing for local residents.

925 North Street (Woodland):

A subsidized housing initiative in partnership with Fourth & Hope, ensuring stable housing for its clients.

Permanent Supportive Housing Units (West Sacramento):

A $1.8 million project offering five permanent supportive housing units for homeless clients.

Identify Needs

We collaborate with local organizations like Fourth & Hope to identify individuals and families in need of immediate housing solutions.

Develop Housing

We secure funding and manage the development of a variety of housing options, including emergency, transitional, and permanent supportive housing.

Provide Support

Beyond housing, we ensure that residents have access to essential services and programs that promote stability and self-sufficiency.

Our Latest Projects

Friends of the Mission’s housing focus includes: emergency, transitional, supportive and permanent housing projects and we lead Fourth & Hope’s capital development efforts.

East Beamer Project

Woodland, CA

The East Beamer Campus is now a replicable model for addressing homelessness, includes:

  • Phase 1: A 100-bed Emergency Shelter (2021) providing immediate support.
  • Phase 2: Sixty-one (61) permanent supportive housing units with essential services (2022).

Walter’s House

Woodland, CA

  • Walter’s House: $1.8 million/$400,000 remodel in 2010
  • Emergency Shelter: $1.5 million
  • East Oak: 4-plexes $980,000
  • Purchase/ management of 925 North Street

West Sacramento

West Sacramento, CA

  • Developed 5 permanent supportive housing units – West Sacramento for Fourth & Hope and West Sacramento homeless clients: $1.8 million.
  • FOM carries the liability and regulatory agreements for these grant funded projects
